Description

The Majestic Meridian Platinum is the top of the Meridian line: a taller glass opening and a premium log set, with the interior liner and front chosen to finish it, in 36 and 42 inch. It comes in 2 sizes, Meridian 36 Platinum and Meridian 42 Platinum.

Who it's for

Right buyer. You want the tallest glass and the premium log set in the Meridian family, with the liner and front chosen to finish it, in 36 or 42 inch.

Wrong buyer. The standard Meridian's glass height is enough for the room and you would rather spend the difference on a front or a fan.

How it performs

The Meridian Platinum raises the glass and upgrades the logs, so the fire is taller and the wood more detailed; it is the Meridian for people who want the biggest view in the family.

Good to know

  • A direct-vent fireplace is sealed behind glass; there is no open fire and no smell of wood.
  • The front is a separate purchase and a separate decision; the fireplace cannot be finished without one.
  • The venting run decides where it can go; a long or complicated run adds to the installation more than the fireplace does.

Dimensions

Framing the opening

Frame the rough opening below, measured inside the studs. Depth is from the finished face of the wall. Where the vent pipe goes through the framing there is a separate hole; the manual's drawing gives its position.

Model Width Height Depth

Meridian Platinum 42 49" 42‑1/8" 22"
Framing notes from the manual
  • Meridian Platinum 36: Adjust framing dimensions for interior chase sheathing (such as sheetrock). Vent framing hole 10 x 12; center 1 in. above center of horizontal vent pipe. Do not pack vent framing hole with insulation or other material.
  • Meridian Platinum 42: Adjust framing dimensions for interior chase sheathing (such as sheetrock). Vent framing hole 10 x 12; center 1 in. above center of horizontal vent pipe. Do not pack vent framing hole with insulation or other material.

Non-combustible mantel leg/wall projections: A 0-7-7/16 / 7-7/16, B max 6 in. If using heat management, refer to install manual for framing guidelines and reduced mantel clearances.

Installation

Venting Requirement
Type Direct vent
Pipe DVP or SLP

Termination: if overhang is less than 2 in., clearance from top of termination cap to bottom of overhang may be 0 in.; 18 in. ventilated or unventilated soffit; 30 in. vinyl soffit. TRAP-VSS required if overhang (A) is greater than 3 in. but less than 5 in. and B is less than 18 in.

Direct vent: a sealed coaxial pipe carries exhaust out and combustion air in, through the roof or an outside wall, with no chimney. The vent pipe, elbows and termination are sold separately and quoted from your installer's plan.

Planning the install

  • Installation is by a licensed gas installer. The fireplace, its venting and the gas line are inspected together, and the warranty depends on it.
  • Framing, clearances to combustibles, mantel heights and the vent run come from the installation manual for your size. Send us your plan and we will check it before anything ships.
  • Venting is sold separately and priced from the installer's plan: the pipe, elbows and termination depend on where the vent exits. Ask us for a vent quote with your order.
  • Propane: every model is also made in an LP version at the same price. Add a note to your order and we will confirm the LP model before it ships.
  • A 120-volt outlet or junction box at the fireplace is needed for the fan, lights and accessories; the ignition itself has battery backup.
  • Special-order goods ship by freight. Confirm the size and the front before you order.

Questions
What is a front, and why is it required?

A Majestic direct-vent fireplace ships as the firebox and glass. The front is the finished face that covers the frame and the vents: a clean-face trim that disappears into the wall, or a decorative front with a screen. The fireplace cannot be finished without one, which is why the page will not let you order without choosing it.

What is IntelliFire Touch?

Majestic's intermittent-pilot ignition system. There is no standing pilot burning all year; the fireplace lights when you turn it on, from the wall switch, the remote or the app. It has a battery backup, so it still lights in a power outage. Flame height, the fan and the lights are controlled from the RC400 remote or the IntelliFire app with the Wi-Fi module.

Does it heat the room?

Yes. A direct-vent fireplace is a sealed heater: it draws combustion air from outside and sends its exhaust outside, so all the heat from the glass goes into the room. With the optional fan it warms a good-sized room; the passive heat and heat-zone kits move heat to another room or out of the wall above.

How is it vented?

Through a coaxial direct-vent pipe out the top or the rear, to a termination on the roof or through an outside wall. No chimney is needed. The pipe, elbows and cap are sized to your house and sold separately.

Can I get it in propane?

Yes. Add a note to your order and we will confirm the LP model, which is the same price.

Can I return it?

Fireplaces are special-order freight items. Confirm the size, the front and the interior with us before you order, and contact us before returning anything.
