Warranty

Source: Hearth & Home Technologies Limited Lifetime Warranty, the document packed with the appliance and linked from the owner's manual above. "Lifetime" means 20 years for gas appliances, 10 years for wood and pellet appliances and 5 years for standalone gas log sets, counted from the start of coverage, which begins no later than 24 months after the appliance ships from the factory.

Heat

An open wood fireplace is not a rated heater, and Majestic publishes no BTU figure for it: the fire warms what it faces by radiation, and most of the heat from the flue goes outdoors. What decides how much fire you get is the firebox: Royalton 36 opens 39-3/4", Royalton 42 opens 39-3/4", Royalton 36 opens 39-1/2, Royalton 42 opens 39-1/2, Sides opens 1/2", Ceiling opens 12", Hearth extension opens BE36. Seasoned hardwood, a proper chimney draft and doors closed as the fire burns down give the most warmth for the wood. Where a gas log set is approved for the model, its rating is on the log-set page.

Installation

Clearance to flue 2 in. Minimum height with single offset/return 14-1/2'; with double offset/return 20'.

A factory-built wood fireplace is framed into the wall on a combustible floor with the clearances in its manual, and vented with the chimney pipe system listed for it, run inside a chase up through the roof. The pipe, supports, firestops and cap are sold separately and quoted from your installer's plan. Gas log sets and gas starters need the knockouts and a gas line run by an installer.

Planning the install

• Installation is by a qualified installer, and the fireplace and its chimney are inspected together.
• Framing, clearances, hearth extension and chimney height come from the installation manual for your size. Send us your plan and we will check it before anything ships.
• The chimney system is sold separately and priced from the plan.
• Burn seasoned firewood only. Check local rules on wood-burning appliances before you build.
• Special-order goods ship by freight. Confirm the size and refractory before you order.
