Who it's for
Right buyer. You are building a wall between two rooms and want one linear gas fire seen from both, with a front on each side and glass media, in 36 or 48 inch.
Wrong buyer. The fireplace will only ever be seen from one side; the single-sided Echelon II costs less and heats better. You want logs rather than glass media.
Will it fit?
Framing the opening
Frame the rough opening below, measured inside the studs. Depth is from the finished face of the wall. Where the vent pipe goes through the framing there is a separate hole; the manual's drawing gives its position.
| Model | Width | Height | Depth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Echelon II 36 See-Through | 48‑1/4" | 42" | 17" |
| Echelon II 48 See-Through | 60‑1/4" | 42" | 17" |
Framing notes from the manual
- Echelon II 36 See-Through: Back width: actual 46-3/16, framing 48-1/4. Header depth not to exceed 3-1/2 in. Adjust framing dimensions for interior sheathing (such as Sheetrock). Vent framing hole 10 x 12; center of hole 1 in. above center of horizontal vent pipe. Do not pack with insulation or other material.
- Echelon II 48 See-Through: Back width: actual 58, framing 60-1/4. Header depth not to exceed 3-1/2 in. Adjust framing dimensions for interior sheathing (such as Sheetrock). Vent framing hole 10 x 12; center of hole 1 in. above center of horizontal vent pipe. Do not pack with insulation or other material.

Clearances
Clearances are to combustible materials, from the appliance. They come from the installation manual for this model and depend on how it is vented; the installer confirms them on site.
Notes from the manual
Measurement from top edge of opening to bottom of appliance = 24-1/2 in. Mantel projection charts (combustible/non-combustible, with and without Passive Heat) printed as graphics on p.2, not transcribed; guide refers to install manual for hearth, mantel and wall projection information.

Installation and venting
| Venting | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Type | Direct vent |
Direct vent: a sealed coaxial pipe carries exhaust out and combustion air in, through the roof or an outside wall, with no chimney. The vent pipe, elbows and termination are sold separately and quoted from your installer's plan.
What arrives
- Clear LED dimmable lights
- RC400 remote control
- Battery backup
- Ceramic glass
- Standard bronze glass media
- IntelliFire Touch ignition system
- Standard with bronze glass media
- The front, interior and any accessories ship as their own cartons.
Before you order
- Installation is by a licensed gas installer. The fireplace, its venting and the gas line are inspected together, and the warranty depends on it.
- Framing, clearances to combustibles, mantel heights and the vent run come from the installation manual for your size. Send us your plan and we will check it before anything ships.
- Venting is sold separately and priced from the installer's plan: the pipe, elbows and termination depend on where the vent exits. Ask us for a vent quote with your order.
- Propane: every model is also made in an LP version at the same price. Add a note to your order and we will confirm the LP model before it ships.
- A 120-volt outlet or junction box at the fireplace is needed for the fan, lights and accessories; the ignition itself has battery backup.
- Special-order goods ship by freight. Confirm the size and the front before you order.
How it performs
The Echelon II See-Through is the two-sided version: one linear fire seen from two rooms, with LED lighting and a front on each face. Once the installer has set the flame height and the fan, the fireplace runs from the wall switch, the RC400 remote or the app: press once and the pilot lights, the burner catches, and the glass warms in a few minutes. Heat comes out of both faces, so the two rooms share it; the fan and heat-management kits move it where you want.
Trade-offs to know
- A direct-vent fireplace is sealed behind glass; there is no open fire and no smell of wood. People who want that choose a wood fireplace or the open-front Reveal.
- The front is a separate purchase and a separate decision; the fireplace cannot be finished without one.
- The venting run decides where it can go; a long or complicated run adds to the installation more than the fireplace does.
Living with it
Have the fireplace serviced once a year, before the season: the installer cleans the burner and the glass inside, checks the vent and the gasket. The glass gets a haze on the inside in the first weeks as the paint cures; that cleans off. Keep the remote's batteries fresh and the app on the WiFi for firmware updates. The fan is the only moving part you will hear.

Source: Hearth & Home Technologies Limited Lifetime Warranty, the document packed with the appliance and linked from the owner's manual above. "Lifetime" means 20 years for gas appliances, 10 years for wood and pellet appliances and 5 years for standalone gas log sets, counted from the start of coverage, which begins no later than 24 months after the appliance ships from the factory.
Questions people ask
What is a front, and why is it required?
A Majestic direct-vent fireplace ships as the firebox and glass. The front is the finished face that covers the frame and the vents: a clean-face trim that disappears into the wall, or a decorative front with a screen. The fireplace cannot be finished without one, which is why the page will not let you order without choosing it.
What is IntelliFire Touch?
Majestic's intermittent-pilot ignition system. There is no standing pilot burning all year; the fireplace lights when you turn it on, from the wall switch, the remote or the app. It has a battery backup, so it still lights in a power outage. Flame height, the fan and the lights are controlled from the RC400 remote or the IntelliFire app with the Wi-Fi module.
Does it heat the room?
Yes. A direct-vent fireplace is a sealed heater: it draws combustion air from outside and sends its exhaust outside, so all the heat from the glass goes into the room. With the optional fan it warms a good-sized room; the passive heat and heat-zone kits move heat to another room or out of the wall above.
How is it vented?
Through a coaxial direct-vent pipe out the top or the rear, to a termination on the roof or through an outside wall. No chimney is needed. The pipe, elbows and cap are sized to your house and sold separately.
Can I get it in propane?
Yes. Add a note to your order and we will confirm the LP model, which is the same price.
Can I return it?
Fireplaces are special-order freight items. Confirm the size, the front and the interior with us before you order, and contact us before returning anything.
What size gas line does it need?
A dedicated 1/2-inch line is typical for one fireplace; the manual gives the inlet pressure and the installer sizes the run. Natural gas needs 5 to 7 inches of water column at the appliance, propane 11 to 13.
Can it run in a power cut?
The IntelliFire Touch ignition has battery backup, so the fire lights and runs with the power off. The fan and lights need 120 volts and wait for it to return.
