Who it's for
Right buyer. You want the Ruby insert with a taller glass opening and a premium interior, in 30 or 35 inch, and a birch log set as an option.
Wrong buyer. The standard Ruby fits the opening and the budget; the difference is glass height and finish, not heat.
Will it fit?
Minimum fireplace opening
Measure the inside of your firebox: width at the front and at the back, height at the front and at the back, and depth. Each size needs at least the opening below, with the surround covering the rest of the old opening.
| Insert | Width, front | Width, back | Height | Depth |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ruby Platinum 30 Insert | 31‑5/8" | 20‑1/8" | 21 front, 19‑3/16 rear | 15 to the back of the surround; 14 with the 2 in. deep surround |
Add 4 in. to the height if the exhaust collar and damper do not line up. Surrounds: 40 x 27 small, 42 x 30 medium, 44 x 32 large. -BIR is the birch log set, same dimensions.
The insert itself
| Model | Width | Height | Depth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ruby Platinum 30 Insert | 31‑1/8 front, 19‑5/8 rear | 20‑3/4 front, 18‑15/16 rear | 14‑1/2 |

Clearances
Clearances are to combustible materials, from the appliance. They come from the installation manual for this model and depend on how it is vented; the installer confirms them on site.
| Clearance | Minimum |
|---|---|
| Floor | 1/4 in. under the appliance; combustible flooring allowed in front; vinyl needs a 24 x 30‑3/4 hearth |
Combustible mantel: the deeper it projects, the higher it must sit above the opening.

Notes from the manual
Non-combustible mantel legs: 20-7/16 to 22-7/16 in. from the centerline depending on the surround.

Before you order
- Installation is by a licensed gas installer. The fireplace, its venting and the gas line are inspected together, and the warranty depends on it.
- Framing, clearances to combustibles, mantel heights and the vent run come from the installation manual for your size. Send us your plan and we will check it before anything ships.
- Venting is sold separately and priced from the installer's plan: the pipe, elbows and termination depend on where the vent exits. Ask us for a vent quote with your order.
- Propane: every model is also made in an LP version at the same price. Add a note to your order and we will confirm the LP model before it ships.
- A 120-volt outlet or junction box at the fireplace is needed for the fan, lights and accessories; the ignition itself has battery backup.
- Special-order goods ship by freight. Confirm the size and the front before you order.
How it performs
The Ruby Platinum is the Ruby with a taller glass opening and a premium interior; everything about the install is the same, and the fire is bigger in the frame.
Trade-offs to know
- Same opening minimums as the Ruby; the difference is glass height and finish.
- The 35-inch is not in the current price list; confirm before ordering.
Living with it
Yearly service; fan and remote as on the Ruby.

Questions people ask
Will it fit my fireplace?
Send us the width, height and depth of your firebox opening, front and back, and the height of the chimney. Each insert size has a minimum opening in the installation manual, and the surround covers the rest. We check every insert order against it before it ships.
What is a front, and why is it required?
A Majestic direct-vent fireplace ships as the firebox and glass. The front is the finished face that covers the frame and the vents: a clean-face trim that disappears into the wall, or a decorative front with a screen. The fireplace cannot be finished without one, which is why the page will not let you order without choosing it.
What is IntelliFire Touch?
Majestic's intermittent-pilot ignition system. There is no standing pilot burning all year; the fireplace lights when you turn it on, from the wall switch, the remote or the app. It has a battery backup, so it still lights in a power outage. Flame height, the fan and the lights are controlled from the RC400 remote or the IntelliFire app with the Wi-Fi module.
Does it heat the room?
Yes. A direct-vent fireplace is a sealed heater: it draws combustion air from outside and sends its exhaust outside, so all the heat from the glass goes into the room. With the optional fan it warms a good-sized room; the passive heat and heat-zone kits move heat to another room or out of the wall above.
How is it vented?
Through a coaxial direct-vent pipe out the top or the rear, to a termination on the roof or through an outside wall. No chimney is needed. The pipe, elbows and cap are sized to your house and sold separately.
Can I get it in propane?
Yes. Add a note to your order and we will confirm the LP model, which is the same price.
Can I return it?
Fireplaces are special-order freight items. Confirm the size, the front and the interior with us before you order, and contact us before returning anything.
What size gas line does it need?
A dedicated 1/2-inch line is typical for one fireplace; the manual gives the inlet pressure and the installer sizes the run. Natural gas needs 5 to 7 inches of water column at the appliance, propane 11 to 13.
