Real Fyre G46 Hidden Controls Vented Burner

The Real Fyre G46 is a vented burner with the valve hidden behind it, sold here on its own for a log set you already have or are buying separately. It gives the same style of flame as the G45, with a second burner across the front for a brighter ember bed, and tucks the valve, pilot and igniter out of sight so you see logs and embers instead of hardware. Every version arrives certified to ANSI Z21.60 with the valve assembled and tested at the factory.

Will it fit your fireplace?

Measure the inside of the firebox: width at the front, width at the back wall, depth and height. The G46 fits a narrower firebox than the G45 but needs 15 inches of depth. Every size needs 17 inches of height.

Electronic On/Off Remote needs more room for its battery and switch box: add 6 inches to the front and 4 inches to the back. The chimney must be at least 15 feet tall, and the firebox floor cannot have an ash lip or a sunken hearth deeper than 3/4 inch.

Peterson lists these Real Fyre vented sets for the G46, in 18/20, 24 and 30 inch: Charred Oak, Burnt Rustic Oak, Charred Split, Charred Rugged Split Oak, Charred American Oak, Charred Northern, Charred Angel Oak, Charred Angel Split Oak, Charred Mountain Birch, Charred Cinder Oak, Charred Cinder Split, Charred Cinder Birch, Golden Oak Designer Plus, Rustic Oak Designer, American Oak, Split Oak, Split Oak Designer Plus, Rugged Split Oak, Woodland Oak, Mountain Birch, White Birch, Gnarled Split Oak, Chestnut Oak, Rugged Forest Split, Golden Oak, Rustic Oak, Rugged Oak, Post Oak. Gnarled Split Oak in 24 and 30 inch only. The heavy Royal English Oak and Charred Majestic Oak families and Coastal Driftwood are not listed for it.

With a Charred set, the ember screen and extra embers packed with the logs are not used on the G46.

Heat input on natural gas, BTU per hour

Lower than a G45 of the same size, because the hidden-valve design uses less gas for a similar flame.

Choose your control

Manual Safety Pilot. A standing pilot you light with the built-in push-button igniter, and a knob at the burner to start the fire and set its height. If the pilot goes out, the valve shuts off the gas. No batteries and no wiring.

On/Off Remote. A standing pilot plus a handheld remote that turns the fire on and off. It keeps working in a power outage. The remote and receiver run on batteries that come in the box.

Variable Remote. Everything the On/Off Remote does, and the remote also raises and lowers the flame.

Electronic On/Off Remote. No standing pilot. Press On and the system sparks its own pilot, then lights the burner, so you are not burning gas on a pilot all season. It runs on batteries that come in the box and needs a slightly wider firebox (see the fit tables).

What arrives

• One carton: burner with the valve and pilot assembled and tested, grate, glowing embers, sand for the burner pan, gas connector kit and damper clamp. Remote versions include the handheld remote, receiver and batteries.
• Logs are a separate item.

Before you order

• For wood-burning fireplaces only, masonry or factory-built, with a working chimney. Not for vent-free fireboxes, direct-vent or B-vent gas fireplaces, or stoves.
• You need a natural gas line into the firebox, 1/2 inch inside diameter or larger, with a shut-off valve outside the firebox.
• The included clamp fixes the damper so it can never close completely. The damper must be fully open whenever the fire is on, glass doors fully open, and a screen in place.
• Installation is by a qualified gas professional. Have the chimney swept first and the set inspected once a year.
• Do not burn wood in the fireplace once the burner is installed, and do not leave the fire on unattended or while anyone is sleeping.
• Above 2,000 feet elevation, add a note to your order.
