Description
The Majestic Ruby Freestanding is the Ruby 30 firebox on a cabinet base, a direct-vent gas stove that stands against a wall and vents out the back or through the roof, with a log set and IntelliFire Touch. It comes in 4 sizes: Standard, Black Glass Liner, Tavern Brown Brick – Traditional, Cottage Red Brick – Traditional.
Who it's for
Right buyer. You have no fireplace and want a gas stove that stands against a wall and vents straight out the back, with the Ruby firebox, a log set and a remote.
Wrong buyer. You have a fireplace to fill; the Ruby insert uses the same firebox and costs less. You want the largest glass; the Trilliant Freestanding.
How it performs
The Ruby Freestanding is the Ruby 30 insert on a cabinet: the same firebox and fire, standing against a wall where there is no fireplace, vented straight up or out the back. It is the answer for a room that never had a chimney.
Good to know
- Vertical venting only; the pipe goes up, with at most a short horizontal run.
- The cabinet, adapter and front are separate parts that must all be ordered.

| Min vertical | 10 ft straight up (4 ft before any horizontal run) |

The stove stands on the floor on its cabinet and vents through a direct-vent pipe straight out the back wall or up through the roof; no chimney is needed. The vent pipe and termination are sold separately and quoted from your installer's plan.
Planning the install
- Installation is by a licensed gas installer. The fireplace, its venting and the gas line are inspected together, and the warranty depends on it.
- Framing, clearances to combustibles, mantel heights and the vent run come from the installation manual for your size. Send us your plan and we will check it before anything ships.
- Venting is sold separately and priced from the installer's plan: the pipe, elbows and termination depend on where the vent exits. Ask us for a vent quote with your order.
- Propane: every model is also made in an LP version at the same price. Add a note to your order and we will confirm the LP model before it ships.
- A 120-volt outlet or junction box at the fireplace is needed for the fan, lights and accessories; the ignition itself has battery backup.
- Special-order goods ship by freight. Confirm the size and the front before you order.
Questions
Does it need a hearth pad?
The stove sits on its own cabinet base. Floor and wall clearances are in the installation manual; send us your plan and we will check them.
What is a front, and why is it required?
A Majestic direct-vent fireplace ships as the firebox and glass. The front is the finished face that covers the frame and the vents: a clean-face trim that disappears into the wall, or a decorative front with a screen. The fireplace cannot be finished without one, which is why the page will not let you order without choosing it.
What is IntelliFire Touch?
Majestic's intermittent-pilot ignition system. There is no standing pilot burning all year; the fireplace lights when you turn it on, from the wall switch, the remote or the app. It has a battery backup, so it still lights in a power outage. Flame height, the fan and the lights are controlled from the RC400 remote or the IntelliFire app with the Wi-Fi module.
Does it heat the room?
Yes. A direct-vent fireplace is a sealed heater: it draws combustion air from outside and sends its exhaust outside, so all the heat from the glass goes into the room. With the optional fan it warms a good-sized room; the passive heat and heat-zone kits move heat to another room or out of the wall above.
How is it vented?
Through a coaxial direct-vent pipe out the top or the rear, to a termination on the roof or through an outside wall. No chimney is needed. The pipe, elbows and cap are sized to your house and sold separately.
Can I get it in propane?
Yes. Add a note to your order and we will confirm the LP model, which is the same price.
