Will it fit my fireplace?
Jasper is designed for an existing solid-fuel masonry fireplace or a UL127 listed factory-built fireplace.
The minimum inside fireplace opening needed for the insert to fit is:
- front width: 31-5/8
- front height: 21
- depth: 15
- rear width: 20-1/8
- rear height: 19-3/16
If your damper area and vent path do not line up cleanly, additional height may be needed to allow proper venting.
Does it cover the opening?
Yes. The surround is the trim that covers the space between the insert and your fireplace opening. It does not affect fit — it determines how clean and finished the final result looks.
- small surround: 40 wide x 27 high
- medium surround: 42 wide x 30 high
- large surround: 44 wide x 32 high
Most installations use the medium surround. Larger surrounds are used when the fireplace opening needs more coverage.
Optional upgrades
- blower (fan) — not included by default, helps push heat into the room
- interior upgrades such as reflective black glass liner, Tavern Brown interior panels, or Cottage Red interior panels
- finish upgrades such as new bronze front and surround options
- propane conversion kit
- wall switch or thermostat controls
- Wi-Fi or remote-related accessories
Clearances (simple)
This is the part that matters in real life: if you want a mantel or a TV above the insert, that needs to be planned before installation.
- deeper mantels need more space above the unit
- TVs above fireplaces can work, but heat management matters
- the front and surround you choose affect the final spacing
- if your goal is a TV-above-fireplace setup, confirm that layout before ordering
What installation typically includes
- preparing and cleaning the existing fireplace
- running direct vent liners through the chimney
- termination cap installation at the top
- gas line connection
- electrical hookup or power routing
- insert placement and leveling
- front and surround installation
- startup, testing, and safety check
Bottom line
If your fireplace meets the minimum opening size, Jasper will fit. From there, the surround and optional upgrades like the blower and design features determine how the fireplace looks and how effectively it heats your space.
