Wood Moisture Meter — Homeowner Guide
Manufacturer: SBI
Model: AC07835
This is a small tool that tells you one simple thing: is your firewood actually dry enough to burn well?
Dry wood burns hotter, lights easier, keeps the glass cleaner, and helps your insert or stove perform the way it’s supposed to.
Why this matters
If wood is too wet, you’ll usually get weaker heat, smokier starts, dirtier glass, and a more frustrating burn. A moisture meter removes the guessing.
What moisture level should I aim for?
Target: 20% moisture or less (measured on a fresh split face) for best performance.
How to use it (simple)
- Split a log (don’t test the bark/outside).
- Press the pins into the fresh split face.
- Read the %. If it’s around 20% or less, you’re in the good zone.
Bottom line
If you’re investing in a wood insert or stove, this is the easiest way to make sure your fuel isn’t the thing holding your heat back.
